Parks Are the Heart of Our Community
One of the best parts about living in Clawson? We love our parks! Whether it’s families enjoying our famous July 4th celebrations, kids playing, neighbors walking together, or friends gathering for community events, our parks are what make Clawson feel like home.
Listening to Neighbors
On my neighborhood walkabouts, residents keep sharing the same idea—especially our dog-loving neighbors: dedicated dog parks.
Right now, Clawson pets don’t have a safe, fenced-in space to run free, socialize, and burn off that famous “puppy energy.” A dog park wouldn’t just help pets—it’d also be a great spot for neighbors to meet and build community.
Cats Can Have Fun, Too!
Don’t forget our cat fans! Some fun conversations led to “Cats Can Have Fun, Too!” While cats may not love leashes like dogs, we can create ways to make parks welcoming for all pet lovers—think special events, shaded sitting areas, and family-friendly outings with pets.
(Scott’s dog Norman, pictured in the blog photo, hasn’t weighed in on cats yet—but he’s keeping an open mind!)
Beyond Pets: Parks for Everyone
Parks aren’t just for pets. Here’s how we can make them even better:
Upgraded & Maintained Playgrounds for safe, modern play
Walking and Biking Path development to encourage healthy living
Seeking Grants and Partnership funding to improve parks and neighborhoods
Let’s Work Together Supporting Clawson’s Parks
Our parks are where the community comes alive. I want a City Council that focuses on our parks and green spaces—yes, that includes better tree planting across our community.
What’s one thing you’d like to see added or improved in Clawson’s parks? Share your ideas—we’re listening!
