Property Taxes & City Services

Yes, our property taxes are high—and many families are feeling that. At the same time, there’s strong agreement that we don’t want to see services cut back. The challenge is finding balance: keeping services at the level Clawson deserves, while making sure every tax dollar is spent wisely and transparently.

Clawson families feel it—our property taxes are high. At the same time, there’s strong agreement that we don’t want to see our essential services cut back. The challenge is balance: keeping Clawson’s quality of life strong while making sure every tax dollar is spent wisely and transparently.

Here’s what really drives our tax bills:

City services & staffing – Police, fire, DPW, and the people who keep Clawson running.

Schools & county costs – A large share of our taxes go directly to Clawson Schools, Oakland County, and regional authorities.

Local investments – Roads, parks, and city buildings that require long-term care and planning.

As your councilmember, I’ll always push for the same thing I hear from you: smart spending, open books, and a commitment to keeping Clawson strong without losing sight of taxpayers’ realities.

Scott
