As I promised to more than a few people I have talked with in the last month, here is the breakdown of a typical Clawson homestead (primary residence) tax bill for 2024, outside the DDA tax cost. We rolled in the Oakland County millages, the ISD/OCC & other regional authorities, and voted on debts/special assessments.
This is the approximate share of the total bill by government groups.
● City services & staffing (city ops, library, rubbish, PA 359): ~34.8%
● Schools & county costs (Clawson Schools debt + State Education Tax + Oakland County + ISD + OCC + regional authorities): ~54.7%
● Local investments (city capital/debt) (roads/sidewalks/sewer/city bond debt): ~10.4%
These three add up to ~100%. By our review of public records from a few agencies, we thank the volunteers that helped put this together. We included the reference sites as well for transparency.

Math notes: We used the City’s 2024 Homestead totals—Summer 44.8801 mills + Winter 2.0904 mills = 46.9705 mills—as the denominator (the City also adds a 1% admin fee on the total). Percentages are approximations. Revize
